Ocie – Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy (Data Stored on Your Device & Cloud Services)

Last updated: August 20, 2025

Ocie ( “we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the Ocie app (“App”) handles and how it is stored across supported platforms. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use Ocie.

1. Information We Collect & Store

On-Device Content

  • Worlds, stories, characters, timelines, images, notes, and other creative material (“User Content”) are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
  • When you enable cloud sync, your User Content may be stored securely within your personal cloud account (such as Apple iCloud or other supported cloud providers), subject to the security and privacy practices of those providers. Ocie cannot access this data.

Subscription Data

  • Payments and subscription management occur through platform providers such as Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active or inactive—no billing details or personal identifiers beyond what Apple/Google provides through the App/Play Store.

Diagnostics & Analytics

  • If you opt in to sharing diagnostics with app developers on your device, your platform provider may share anonymized crash logs or diagnostics with us. We use these solely to identify bugs and improve performance. You can turn this off in app settings.

2. How Information Is Used

  • Render, organize, and display User Content on your device.
  • Sync with supported cloud services only if you enable that feature.
  • Validate subscription status using platform-provided subscription tokens (no personal financial data).
  • Debug crashes or issues using anonymized diagnostics (if supplied by Apple).

We do not collect, process, or monetize User Content.

3. Data Sharing

  • No Third-Party Sharing: Ocie does not share User Content with any third parties because we do not receive it.
  • Platform Services: Platform providers such as Apple and Google handle payments, subscriptions, and supported cloud storage services. Interaction with those services is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.
  • Legal Requirements: Since we do not host your content, legal requests for it should be directed to you or Apple/Google. We may disclose the limited subscription status tokens we possess if legally required.

4. Security

  • User Content remains protected by your device’s security features (such as biometrics, device PINs, or passwords) and supported cloud provider encryption if sync is enabled.
  • We encourage you to enable device-level protections and manage cloud security settings through your device and cloud provider accounts.

5. Your Choices

  • Local Storage Only: Keep cloud sync disabled to ensure your lore never leaves your device.
  • iCloud Sync: Enable or disable anytime within Ocie or your device settings.
  • Diagnostics Sharing: Control developer diagnostics through your device privacy and analytics settings.
  • Subscription Management: Update or cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account settings.

6. Children’s Privacy

Ocie is not intended for children under 13. If you are aware of underage use with personally identifiable information, contact us so we can advise on removal.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Updated policies will appear in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised policy.

9. Data Deletion & Account Removal

Because Ocie primarily stores content locally on your device or within your personal cloud storage account, you can delete your data at any time by:

    • Deleting worlds, stories, characters, or notes directly within the app.
    • Disabling cloud sync from the app settings.
    • Removing the app from your device, which deletes locally stored data.
    • Deleting synced content from your personal cloud storage provider account where applicable.

If you would like assistance regarding subscription-related data or privacy concerns, you may contact us at [email protected].

Since Ocie does not store your creative content on our own servers, we cannot access, recover, or permanently delete content stored only on your device or personal cloud account.
